How Freezing Weather Can Lead to Hidden Mold Growth

Icicles are beautiful to look at, but if they are hanging from your roof, you probably have ice dams, which can be hazardous to your home or business. As temperatures plummet, water freezes creating ice dams on overhangs. When it gets warmer, these ice dams melt and the water gets under the roof shingles and runs-off into the walls of your house. Dampness can cause mold growth in as little as 24-hours; and mold growth can cause serious health issues. Make sure to have your home tested for mold growth (and other nasty things) by a non-biased company, like RTK Environmental Group.

Mold problems are not limited to states with high humidity and have led to various school closings throughout the country. Addressing mold problems proactively is the most successful and cost-effective way to manage them. (EPA)
