New York State’s New Law Requires All Mold Remediation Contractors, Workers, and Assessors to Hold a State License by January 1, 2016.

 

2-Day NYS DOL MOLD REMEDIATION WORKER CLASS

Two-day Mold Remediation Worker:  This class prepares participants to perform mold remediation work in New York State per 9311.3 law.  Upon successful completion, students may apply for NYS license, required as of January 1, 2016.

Course topics include: Introduction; regulations; technical and legal compliance; indoor air pollution and sick buildings; potential health effects; hazard communication; workplace hazards; PPE; respirators; asbestos; confined spaces; lock out/tag out; mold remediation project overview; containment; air filtration; safe work practices for removing, cleaning, and treating mold; and state-of-the-art technology. Hands-on work area review.

3-Day NYS DOL MOLD REMEDIATION CONTRACTOR CLASS

Three-day Mold Remediation Contractor – Preparation for course participants to perform mold remediation contracting in New York State per 931.2 law. Upon successful completion, students may apply for NYS license required as of January 1, 2016.

Course Topics Include: Sources; conditions; prevention of mold growth; potential health effects; workplace hazards; PPE; respirators; asbestos; confined spaces; lock out/tag out; technical and legal considerations; New York State Law; state-of-the-art work practices and new technologies; documentation; report writing; field notes; chain of custody forms; clearance tests and procedures; building construction; building sciences; moisture control; water intrusion events; basics of HVAC systems; inspection and assessment of HVAC systems; writing mold management plans; mold remediation plans; determining clearance criteria; post-remediation clearance testing procedures; review mediation plans; engineering controls; overview of how mold remediation projects are conducted; containment; air filtration; work practices for removing, cleaning, and treating mold; requirements for worker protection; respiratory program; safety plans; medical surveillance; contact specifications; job cost estimates; liability and insurance costs; protecting public and occupants from mold exposure; EPA, NYCDOH, OSHA, IICRC S520; review.

4-Day NYS DOL MOLD ASSESSMENT CONSULTANT

Four-Day Mold Assessment Consultant – This course is designed for participants who will be performing mold assessment and preparing remediation plans in accordance with New York State 931.1 law. Upon successful completion, students may apply for NYS license required as of January 1, 2016.

Course topics include: Introduction; sources, conditions, and prevention of mold growth; potential health effects; workplace hazards; PPE; respirators; asbestos; confined spaces; lock out/tag out; technical and legal consideration and regulations; performance of visual inspections for mold; measurement equipment; moisture meters; humidity meters; particle counters; data logging; inspection equipment; biological sampling methods; bulk, surface, and tape air samples; state-of-the-art work practices and new technologies; documentation; report writing; field notes; chain of custody forms; clearance testing and procedures; building construction; building sciences; moisture control; water intrusion events; prevention of IAQ problems; improving maintenance; housekeeping; basics of HVAC systems; inspection and assessment of HVAC systems; interpreting data and sampling results, survey protocol; interviewing occupants; questionnaire development and interpreting results; writing mold management plans, mold remediation plans; determining clearance criteria; contract specifications; job cost estimates; liability and insurance costs, post-remediation clearance testing procedures; review mediation plans; case studies; overview of how mold remediation projects are conducted; containment; air filtration and protecting the public and occupants from mold and chemical exposure; work practices for removing, cleaning, and treating mold; requirements for worker protection; respiratory program; safety plans; medical surveillance; EPA, NYCDOH, OSHA, IICRC S520; review.
