Trusted Mold Testing, Asbestos Testing & Indoor Air Quality Testing for New York City
Four out of five homes contain at least one environmental hazard that can affect your health. We’re the professionals who can help you do something about it. RTK Specializes in testing for mold, lead, asbestos, indoor air quality, and soil and water contamination.
For 25 years, commercial property managers, businesses, homeowners, management companies, insurance adjusters, real estate professionals, and others throughout New York City including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan, have relied on RTK for all of their environmental testing needs.
Using state-of-the-art technology and adhering to the latest standards and strict NYC and state codes and rules, our inspectors will thoroughly examine your property – the physical structure, indoor air, water supply, and outside soil – for the presence of mold, lead, asbestos, radon, and other environmental problems. We also provide specialty testing for less common contaminants, especially for businesses that need to keep to the highest safety standards, including hospitals, medical offices, and restaurants.
Because RTK’s business is limited to only testing and consulting – not remediation – you can be confident our assessment will be accurate and unbiased. If we find a problem, you hire a separate remediation firm. Then, we’ll return to make sure the job was done right, and tell you how to avoid more problems in the future.
RTK serves the five boroughs and greater New York City metro area, and leads the field of environmental testing and consulting. Company professionals are certified, licensed, and fully insured.
New York City Mold Testing Services
RTK Environmental Group mold inspectors are licensed and certified by New York State per the 2016 law, which requires separate companies to perform mold inspection and mold remediation on a single job, saving consumers thousands. It also requires mold inspectors and contractors to attend certification classes and be licensed by the state. This ensures your inspector is fully knowledgeable about mold.
Mold spores, when inhaled, can cause serious health issues, including asthma, chronic allergies, headaches, fatigue, skin rashes, throat and eye irritations, wheezing, and many respiratory problems. When mold is disturbed, it can release spores into the air to seed new colonies, causing cross contamination. Mold can be caused by any number of water- or moisture-related issues, including ice dams, roof leaks, basement flooding, burst pipes, poor drainage, and high humidity. Often, mold hides behind walls and ceilings, so unless you test for mold, you may not know that a problem exists.
Toxic black mold is more dangerous than ordinary mold because its spores contain poisonous mycotoxins. To be safe and to protect your family, hire a professional to locate and identify the mold in your home or business.
NYC Asbestos Inspection & Testing
Our asbestos inspectors, project designers and management planners are licensed by the New York State Department of Health and certified under the federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act. We can expertly locate any asbestos in your home and monitor asbestos removal.
Our approach is to:
- Conduct a comprehensive site survey to identify asbestos-containing materials
- Provide asbestos bulk, air, and soil sampling
- Provide a detailed report identifying the location, quantity, and condition of asbestos-containing materials
- Prepare an asbestos prioritization plan in cases when removal of all asbestos-containing materials is not possible
- Develop an asbestos abatement plan for use by the third-party abatement company you select
To make sure your asbestos issue has been resolved, we can conduct an asbestos clearance test to see if all asbestos fibers have been cleaned up to meet EPA standards.
NYC Boroughs Indoor Air Quality Testing
Most indoor air pollution is caused by common household or office products and furnishings. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports that indoor levels of many pollutants may be 25 to 100 times higher than outdoor levels. What’s in the air you breathe every day?
RTK Environmental Group can find out if there are dangerous levels of chemicals in your home, retail store, business, or building, including radon, carbon monoxide, nicotine, off-gassing from carpets or furniture, and particles from furnaces and wood-burning stoves. We can test for common asthma triggers, such as dust mites and insect cells. RTK can also help pinpoint causes of Sick Building Syndrome.
Our customized investigations will determine the root causes associated with your specific health hazard or air quality problem. We will provide a detailed report with recommendations on how to resolve your environmental issues. Once remediation is completed, we can verify that the situation was successfully resolved. Since our practice is strictly limited to environmental testing and consulting – never remediation – you’re assured of an accurate and unbiased assessment.
