Trusted Mold Testing Service in Long Island New York
Four out of five homes contain at least one environmental hazard that can affect your health. We’re the professionals who can help you do something about it. RTK Environmental Group specializes in testing for mold and assessing indoor air quality, both important with the humid conditions on Long Island.
Long Island Mold Testing & Inspection: No Conflict of Interest
For over 25 years, homeowners, management companies, insurance adjusters, commercial property managers, businesses, real estate professionals, and others throughout Long Island including the Nassau, Suffolk, the Hamptons, the North Shore, Long Island Sound, and the South Shore, have relied on RTK Environmental Group for all of their mold inspection and mold testing needs.
Because RTK’s business is limited to only consulting and testing – not remediation – you can be confident our assessment will be unbiased and accurate. If we find a mold problem, it will be up to you to hire a separate remediation company. Then, we’ll come back to make sure the job was done right, and tell you how to avoid future problems. New York State law actually prohibits the same company from testing for mold and conducting mold remediation on the same job.
RTK Environmental Group serves all of Long Island, and leads the field of environmental testing and consulting. Company professionals are certified, licensed, and fully insured.
Using state-of-the-art technology and adhering to the latest standards and strict NYS codes and rules, our inspectors will thoroughly examine your property – the indoor air and physical structure – for the presence of mold.
Strict Adherence to New York’s Mold Testing Laws
RTK mold inspectors are licensed and certified by New York State per the 2016 Mold Program law, responsible for enforcing Article 32 of the New York State Labor Law, which requires separate companies to perform mold inspection and mold remediation on a single job, saving consumers thousands. The law also requires mold contractors and inspectors to attend certification classes and be licensed by the State. This ensures that your RTK inspector is fully knowledgeable about mold.
Mindful of Mold & Your Health
Mold spores, when inhaled, can cause serious health issues, including asthma, headaches, fatigue, chronic allergies, skin rashes, throat and eye irritations, wheezing, and other respiratory problems. When mold is disturbed, it can release spores into the air to seed new colonies, causing cross contamination. Mold can be caused by any number of moisture- or water-related issues, including roof leaks, basement flooding, ice dams, burst pipes, poor drainage, and high humidity, which is frequent on Long Island because of the proximity to water. Often, mold hides behind ceilings and walls, so unless you test for mold, you may not know that a problem exists.
Finding Toxic Black Mold in Long Island
You may see signs of black mold on your walls, along floorboards, near sinks and toilets, and on ceilings. Black mold may look frightening – but it’s not necessarily toxic. It is, however, a health hazard and allergen. While toxic mold can bring on the most serious health problems, all mold can cause health issues in healthy people – especially those who suffer allergies. The only way to find out if mold is toxic is to have it tested. Toxic black mold can grow in any building, so to be safe and to protect your family, hire a professional to locate and identify the mold in your home or business.
